How did the high school football season go overall?
“The football season for me was definitely a different type of feel due to the fact that we had got a new Head Coach and a New defensive Coach. I was all over the place position wise on defense because my coach wanted to get a feel on how I played at certain positions. I was playing safety at the CSU team camp, then switched back to linebacker, but on the offensive side I always was a wide receiver. I feel like injuries during the early and late session hurt us tremendously, it took a lot of senior role players out of the roster and hurt our chances at playoffs because of the low-depth chart.”
What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“My plans now sports-wise is doing track this offseason working on my speed and explosiveness off the ball, always trying to get quicker out of my releases. Workout wise I tend to work on the things that I’m the weakest at, working on my balance and movement because that’s where I will thrive at, not benching 300+ pounds.”
How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I have mixed emotions about how I think my season will go next year due to the fact that our defensive and offensive line was super senior heavy, but skill player wise we have all the positions filled that we need. We are a heavy class of 2024 team so we will also be senior heavy next year which is also a good thing. Coming off a great defensive season North High School had 3 all-league linebackers and 1 all-state. If we can get a line going during the offseason we definitely will do some damage and have a play-off run our senior year.”
What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“We have not gotten our schedule yet so I could not give you a specific team that I think will be our toughest opponent for the 2024 season but schools like the meads, Fredricks, Lutherans, holy families, the top 3a schools are definitely the ones that we know we have to work extra hard during that game week. But to be the best you got to play the best right? We might not be the team with the most players but our 30 guys will play their hardest.”
Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Like my previous answer to the last question we haven’t received our schedule so I couldn’t give a specific player that I think we will have the toughest time against. I can say though that we have a lot of talent in DPS that I think isn’t getting enough recognition such as the 4a-5a schools. If you look at history players like Philip Lindsay and Calais Campbell both NFL players are product of DPS football. So I don’t think it’s a talent issue. I think it has to do with kids not wanting to go to these 3a programs even though they live by these schools. I know kids who will drive an extra 30 minutes out of their area to go to a bigger school.”
Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“I do plan to play college football and that is my goal. Does not matter what program or which division football is football to me, and if you love the game unconditionally the hard work will pay off.”
What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I haven’t been getting any super [big] recognition but I have gotten a personal call from ENMU, I have talked to Coach Anderson via twitter from Dakota State, and texts and emails from Coach Gifford up at El Camino College. I’ve also gotten messages from Coach Titus at Concordia College, and Coach Brown from Cal Lutheran Football. Since I barely turned a junior this year I have not been able to do my SAT and PSAT and I feel that has slowed down my recruiting process because I cannot provide those scores. Once the testing season comes around and I can provide those scores, senior season will for surely be a heavy recruiting year for me.”
What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“No particular School is recruiting me the hardest right now, but once one school see not just the stats that I put up (1st in rec yards league six 3a) but the hard-working student athlete that I am, more notice will come towards my name certainly. All it takes is one for more to come, and like I said during the previous question once testing season comes around senior year will be a great year recruiting wise.”
Have you made any college trips yet?
“I have not made any “official” college trips yet, but I do plan on going to college camps with my team and teammates. The Colorado State University Team Camp definitely helped me and the team as a team. We played against a great 5a state championship contender Ralston Valley, and another great 4a State-contender Palmer Ridge. Playing against big playoff teams as a smaller 3a team with a smaller depth chart builds character and grit. We always make sure to be scheduled up against the hardest teams to become better. Even when it comes to 7v7.”
Do you have plans for any trips soon?
“Yes I do plan to take college trips soon whether it’s “unofficial” or “official” we will see very soon.”
Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“I never had one favorite college team but I always loved watching the big SEC and Pac 12 teams like Alabama, Georgia, and LSU because of the crazy atmosphere and energy they always have. Watching the crowd’s energy when a player scores is very exciting to watch, and I can only imagine how the player feels watching thousands of fans cheer for them. I want to experience that same feeling inspiring thousands of young kids to pursue their talents regardless of whether it's football or not.”
